Honest Parenting Disclaimer
Honest Parenting and The Guide to Honest Parenting, as well as any components of Honest
Parenting are offered in good faith, with intent to assist families in bettering their quality of life.
The information offered is simply information...nothing more. It is not to be considered
"treatment," "advice," or to take the place of medicine or more intensive care. Never
discontinue prescribed medication without the guidance and consent of a medical doctor.
Abrupt or inappropriate discontinuation of some medications may have serious physical
effects.
Because we are not in the presence of the families using this information, we cannot be
responsible for its use, progress, or lack thereof. We are genuinely interested in your
success and happiness. We cannot guarantee any certain result or level of improvement in
your child's behavior or emotional state. The level of progress that you and your child
achieve depends on several factors, such as consistency of implementation, your child's
developmental status, environmental issues, etc.
Honest Parenting is not as likely to benefit a child or adolescent who is autistic or who has an
IQ in the moderate to severe mental retardation range. What we offer requires that the
parent(s) and child or adolescent can communicate verbally with each other and that both are
capable of understanding some basic concepts.
If your child or adolescent physically endangers himself/herself, or others, you should seek
local, professional help. Honest Parenting can still be useful, but physical safety comes first.
When everyone is safe, the parenting style can be used.
